Languages and localization roadmap

Exponential speaks the languages of its users. With Exponential 6.0.15, the administration is complete in 155 languages. Its locales cover 247 countries and territories, each shown in its own language. Right-to-left scripts, non-Latin scripts and a pseudo-language for testing are included. Translations are contributions like code, and every language can be improved by the people who speak it.

Delivered (ships with Exponential 6.0.15)

  • Delivered (development branch): 155 administration languages, every one of them complete. Ten more complete administration translations and an Arabic administration were merged from community pull requests in October 2026.
  • Delivered (development branch): 368 locales. 89 locale files were added on 15 October 2026 and 81 more on 16 October 2026, so content can be written in the major languages of the world.
  • Delivered (development branch): right-to-left languages. Arabic and Hebrew, with right-to-left support in the admin4 design, plus Latin and Klingon.
  • Delivered (development branch): the coverage map. A world map of the countries and territories whose language the administration shows. It is generated by the exp:i18n coverage command and published in the languages page of the documentation.
  • Delivered (development branch): fallback chains. Every country of a translated language gets that translation, for example French in the French Southern Territories or Arabic in the Palestinian territories.
  • Delivered (development branch): the interface language. Every user chooses the language of the administration from one list, ranked by the most used languages and then A to Z, with the translation coverage of each. It is built on a new UI switch framework for interface choices.
  • Delivered (development branch): language badges that show the language, not the region, and the state of each translation of a content object.
  • Delivered (development branch): the test language Lorem Ipsum, a pseudo-language for checking layouts with content. It is shipped, but not installed or enabled by default.
  • Delivered (development branch): each shipped catalogue holds each message once, and English (United States) is the fallback language for content.
  • Delivered (development branch): the help center in the reader's language. See the documentation and help roadmap.

In progress

  • In progress: new strings of each release translated into every language before the release. This covers 6.0.15's sign-in, passkey, upgrade and help texts.
  • In progress: the translations of extensions (cjw_newsletter, ezmultiupload, xrowextract, expai and more) brought to the same languages as the kernel.

Next

  • Next: the remaining territories. About fifty territories show the administration through a fallback today. They get locales of their own, with their own date, number and currency formats.
  • Next: the German documentation set brought level with the English one, and further documentation languages after it.

Considering

  • Considering: more pseudo-languages for testing, such as long strings and right-to-left mirroring of left-to-right text.
  • Considering: an online translation workflow on the community portals, so that a translator does not need Git.

Help wanted

  • Improve a translation. People who speak a language make its translation good. Corrections to any of the 155 languages are welcome as pull requests to the Exponential repository.
  • Add a language or a locale. Tell us in the Translation forum, or in the new language or locale topic.
  • Check your country's formats: dates, numbers, currencies and the order of names and addresses.
  • Translation contributions need a signed CLA 1.1.0, like code.
